In the morning of Oct 31, 2018, in the high-pitched singing of the traditional Tibetan opera "Jialu Wenba", the promotion conference of "Travel to Tibet in winter·sharing the third pole of the earth” sponsored by the Tourism Development Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region opened at Shangri-La Hotel in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
It is miraculous to witness all the performers dressed in splendid national costumes and hear the spirited Tibetan opera echoed around the hall. The beautiful sound of Tibetan opera is the warm invitation to the tourists from all over the world for visiting the snowy plateau.
In February 2018, the Tibetan government launched the "Travel to Tibet in winter" market promotion project, and promulgated the most vigorous preferential policies in the history of Tibetan tourism. The highlights and perspectives of a series of market promotion activities such as the Tibetan New Year, the Spring Festival and the Peach Blossom Festival have attracted many tourists visiting Tibet.
Tourism in Tibet has stepped up to a new level. Tourism has become a pillar industry in Tibet and a leading industry in enriching the people and promoting Tibet. It plays an increasingly important role in the overall economic and social development of the region.
In order to further promote the development of Tibet's tourism industry and expand the brand influence, Tibet government decided to launch this winter and spring "Travel to Tibet in winter" from November 1, 2018 to March 15, 2019, and continue to introduce the preferential policy of this promotion project.
Wang Songping, director of the Tibet Tourism and Development Commission, elaborated on the preferential measures and incentive measures for this “Travel to Tibet” project on the press conference. Many companies involved in transportation, airlines and tourisms signed a number of cooperation agreements based on the preferential measures of "Travel to Tibet in winter". These cooperation agreements will provide a strong impetus for this project.
Besides enjoy the warm sunshine of the plateau in winter and appreciate the stunning panorama views of snowy mountains, what other unique folk experience activities are there in Tibet? At the press conference on that day, the Tibetan Travel and Development Commission gave a detailed introduction to the Gongbu New Year and the Tibetan New Year.
On November 8th, Linzhi, Tibet will usher in the "earliest Chinese year" – Gongbu New Year. At that time, everybody will dress up in traditional costumes and start the annual celebration. The Gongbu New Year is just the beginning of the winter tours to Tibet. There will be a more grand celebration for Tibetan Traditional New Year in early February.
Half a month before the new year's Eve, you can already feel the atmosphere of the new year in the streets and alleys in Tibet. Starting from December 29 according to Tibetan calendar New Year, there are different activities and experiences every day.
