Tour FAQs
1). When is the best time for Beijing & Tibet to Nepal tour?
From April to May, September to October is the best season for Beijing and Tibet while it is warm and clear. You can enjoy the beauty of kinds of flowers, climb the Great Wall, visit the old temples, see the true face of the Everest etc. Nepal's climate can be simply divided into rainy season and dry season. The rainy season is from June to September. It rains a lot, which will cause a lot of inconvenience to your travel. It is even harder for the drive from Gyirong border to Kathmandu. The dry period is from October to May. In conclusion, the best time for Beijing, Tibet to Nepal tour will be April, May and October.

2). Where should I apply for my Nepal Visa if I travel from Tibet to Nepal?
When you get to the immigration center in Gyirong border, you will say goodbye to your Tibetan guide after you finish the exit formalities. After that, you will cross the bridge yourself. At the other end of the bridge, you will meet the check point of Nepal side. The officer will check all your luggage and then you need to walk another 2km to meet the Nepal Immigration Center where you can get your Nepal visa. You are required to fill in an application form and provide one passport size photo. It costs 25USD for 15 days visa and 30USD for 30 days visa. You can also get arrival visa if you fly from Tibet to Nepal.

3). What is needed for Tibet Permit application if I travel to Nepal after Tibet?
No matter your next destination is Nepal or China, the documents for the Tibet Permit application is the same. Your passport and China Visa copies are required if you hold the tourist “L” visa. Should you work or study in China, an extra work or school certificate will be needed. The permit application needs to be handled at least 15 days in advance.

4). What do you suggest if I travel from Tibet to Nepal, by flight or van?
Gyirong border is 820km away from Lhasa. If you only visit Lhasa and around area, it is better to fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu. Should your tour program include the visit to Mt. Everest Base Camp or Mt. Kailash etc, it is suggested to cross the border by van since it is near the border.

5). Is it suitable to take young baby for the overland tour from Tibet to Nepal?
The road from Lhasa to Gyirong border is very well paved. But from Rasuwa border (the border in Nepal side) to Kathmandu, the road is very bumpy, zigzag, narrow and dusty. There might be landslide in flood season from July to August. It takes about 9 hours from the border to Kathmandu. This is not a good choice for babies considering the long hours and poor road condition.

6). How can we get to Kathmandu from Gyirong border?
Once you cross the bridge between Gyirong border and Rasuwa border, pass the check point in Nepal side, you can see many drivers and vans for rental. It is good to share a van with other tourists. Normally, it cost about 30USD per person if there are 7 persons to share one 4WD vehicle. You can also book a private border transfer with us but that will be much more expensive.
